With Kaitlyn Chen, UConn is leaving nothing to chance

After the last three seasons, the Huskies can never have too many good players.

After the last three seasons, it’s hard to imagine that UConn women’s basketball could have too many players at one position. Yet when Princeton point guard Kaitlyn Chen committed to the Huskies on Sunday, there were complaints that UConn already has too many guards and should be using its resources on the frontcourt.

Granted, UConn still needs an experienced big — but the team is working on that. The Huskies are a finalist for Oregon State’s Raegan Beers and if she picks Oklahoma instead, there’s other options left on the market.

That doesn’t mean the addition of Chen isn’t important, though. She fills a need, shores up a backcourt with a lot of question marks and most importantly, makes UConn a better team.
