On Sunday, UConn took the court for its final tune-up of the preseason, facing off against Division II Southern Connecticut State at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford. In the last look at the team ahead of the regular season, nobody capitalized on the opportunity more than Allie Ziebell.

After a quiet freshman campaign in which she mostly watched from the bench, the Wisconsin native shined on Sunday afternoon. She put up 13 points in just 15 minutes, hitting 5-10 from the field while also making plays defensively.

“The things that she's good at are the things that she did today,” Geno Auriemma said postgame. “That's kind of who she is. That was her high school career. She's a really good shooter. She's pretty smart. She's quicker than she looks at getting the first step by you. And she's smart defensively.”
