In UConn women’s basketball’s Elite Eight victory over USC, Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards combined for 52 points. The Huskies’ pair of All-Americans were expected to deliver a big night, as did the Trojans’ duo of JuJu Watkins and McKenzie Forbes, who totaled 53 points.
That left UConn’s freshmen to make the difference. All four, including Ice Brady and Qadence Samuels off the bench, contributed in key ways to send the Huskies to the Final Four.
“That's what we're here to do. I mean, we're all great players,” Ashlynn Shade said. “That's what we expect from each other.”
