'Nobody's going to be Azzi': What's next after Fudd's injury

The Huskies know they can't replace her, so they'll have to get creative.

On Wednesday, UConn announced that its 2023-24 season will go on without Azzi Fudd after the junior guard suffered a torn ACL in practice last week. The news is the latest injury blow for a team that’s dealt with plenty over the last few years.

If nothing else, it’s something the Huskies have become accustomed to.

“Over the last three years, it seems like there's always something. There's always something that we have to deal with,” Geno Auriemma said after the win over Maryland. “It seems like we've always handled it really, really, really well. We've always been pretty resilient. I mean, for us to win 31 games last year given what we went through, they can respond. They don't pout. They really don't.”
