Scouting the Cardinals
Once a perennial national power, Louisville has fallen over the last two seasons. The Cardinals made nine straight Sweet Sixteens and five straight Elite Eights before getting bounced in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. They fared only slightly better this past March by making it to the second round.
Louisville were active in the transfer portal, adding Laura Ziegler (17.5 points, 10.4 rebounds) from St. Joseph’s, Reyna Scott (35 appearances, 16 starts) from Oklahoma and Skylar Jones (10.7 points) from Arizona. Still, the core of this team is the sophomore class.
“Last year when we played them, a lot of their best players were freshmen,” Geno Auriemma said. “Now, those kids are sophomores.”
