Coming into Big East play, UConn had been uncharacteristically poor from 3-point range this season. While the Huskies made 35.2 percent as a team, that number was inflated by Azzi Fudd’s 23-42 (54.8 percent) mark from deep. Beyond her, they’d only converted on 27.2 percent of their attempts from behind the arc.

Despite those struggles to begin the year, Geno Auriemma remained confident his team would eventually find its stroke from three.

“We're way better 3-point shooting team than we're showing right now,” he said ahead of the Michigan game. “I mean, I say that but if you don't show it, then you're not. So we're not. But we will be. We will be — promise.”

That long-awaited breakthrough came on Sunday at Xavier.
