Nika Mühl entered UConn’s round of 32 game on Monday evening with 558 career assists in her four years in Storrs. Three minutes into the first quarter Mühl dished the ball to Bueckers in transition for a layup, tying Moriah Jefferson’s previously held UConn career record of 559 assists.

A few minutes later, she found Ashlynn Shade on the perimeter to set her own record: 660 career assists. Mühl added three more in the win over Syracuse, setting the bar at 663 (and counting) as the Huskies move on to the Sweet 16.

The road to 663 assists has come with plenty of milestones along the way, ranking Mühl among both the Huskies and the nation’s best, especially over the past two years. Here’s a look at the numbers behind Mühl’s ascension to the top of the UConn’s assist record books.

A team effort

When asked about the various assist milestones she has crossed over the past two seasons, Mühl is always quick to credit her teammates on the receiving end of the ball. Her ability to deliver the pass to right spot has helped set up 20 Huskies for baskets over the past four years of her career.

No one had been on the receiving end of Mühl’s greatness more than the two players who arrived in Storrs with her. Over a third of her career assists have been delivered to Aaliyah Edwards and Paige Bueckers. Add in Aubrey Griffin, who is now also a member of the senior class after redshirting, and the trio accounts for 45 percent of Mühl’s assist.
