As UConn prepared to play Georgetown on Sunday, Geno Auriemma decided that it was time to see what Morgan Cheli could do with some extended minutes.

“Based on practices recently, I just made a commitment that I want to get Morgan more playing time — however that works out,” the coach explained.

The freshman rewarded that trust by putting together the best performance of her young career with five points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in the 79-44 win over the Hoyas. It was exactly what Auriemma was hoping for.
