UConn had multiple opportunities to pull away from No. 14 North Carolina on Friday. The Huskies led by 20 in the second quarter, only to give up an 8-0 at the end of the half. They built it back up to 21 late in the third but allowed the Tar Heels to get back within single-digits with seven minutes remaining.

At no point did UConn step on UNC’s throat and finish the game off — but that wouldn’t have benefitted the team all that much. With two blowout victories already under its belt, UConn’s young roster needed to be challenged.

In the end, the Huskies got just that in their 69-58 victory. Even though she was talking about her own team, Tar Heels coach Courtney Banghart put it best.

“You don't get better in life without a little adversity,” she said.
