Geno Auriemma was in an unusually good mood after UConn’s 88-43 thrashing of St. John’s on Wednesday night. While the coach is rarely satisfied and always looking for ways to improve, he took a noticeably more positive tone postgame. Auriemma didn’t nitpick, search for reasons to be upset or even needle any players for mistakes. Instead, he spoke glowingly of his team’s performance.

It wasn’t just for show, either. When a reporter asked if Auriemma was equally happy in the locker room, Azzi Fudd silently nodded a confirmation despite the question being directed to Sarah Strong.

After all, there was plenty to like. UConn put together one of its best performances of the season against St. John’s.
