UConn women’s basketball’s 100-68 win over Ohio State on Sunday wasn’t just lopsided. It was a show of force.
Early on, the Huskies found themselves in a battle. They traded baskets through the first few minutes then fell behind by four when the Buckeyes ripped off a 7-0 run. UConn answered back with seven straight points itself, only for Ohio State to pull back ahead. When the first period closed, the Huskies held a narrow three-point lead.
Then they flexed their muscles and quickly turned the contest into a rout. UConn needed just three minutes to push the gap to double-digits and were up 20 by halftime. The Huskies allowed just six points in the second quarter.
UConn plainly showed why it’s the No. 1 team in the country and national title favorite.
“This is one of the most talented and deep teams that I think I've seen with UConn in a while,” Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff said postgame.
