UConn has won each of its four games during the NCAA Tournament in a different fashion, and the Elite Eight proved to be no different. Without a big performance from the bench on Sunday afternoon, the Huskies might not be headed to Phoenix for the program’s 25th Final Four.

“I mean, it's incredible, and it's super impactful,” Azzi Fudd said of the reserves. “I don't know that we win these games without this depth and without the bench that we have.”

UConn’s subs scored 32 of its 70 points in the win over Notre Dame. That’s the most points the Huskies have gotten from their bench in the regional round or later since at least 2010.

“That's the Catch-22,” said Notre Dame head coach Niele Ivey after the game. “We wanted to contain Sarah (Strong) and Azzi, make it a really tough night. But we had to make sure no one else was a factor and it was. Blanca (Quiñonez) was a big factor having 20 points, 4-8 from the 3-point line. She did a great job. Their supporting cast did a great job, but she was the X factor for them.”
