As UConn women’s basketball rolled over another top-25 team on Saturday — a 90-64 win over No. 11 Iowa — the team’s two superstars split the load evenly.

In the first half, Sarah Strong put up 20 of the Huskies’ 41 points while none of her teammates had more than seven. In the second half, Azzi Fudd took the baton with 21 points.

UConn needed that from Strong in the early going. The sophomore made 9-13 shots in the opening 20 minutes while the rest of the team combined to go 8-31. The Huskies scored in bursts — they had runs of 7-0 and 9-0 in the first quarter, then 8-0 in the second quarter — but then would go cold, allowing Iowa to stay close.

UConn only went into the locker room up by 11 — its narrowest halftime lead of the season.

“The first half was a struggle to get going,” Auriemma told the broadcast postgame. “Sarah kind of just did her thing.”

Fudd, meanwhile, did her thing in the second half.
