After a one-year hiatus, UConn and South Carolina will renew their rivalry on “neutral” courts over the next two seasons. The two schools will play in the 2026 Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena on Nov. 24, 2026 then head to Charlotte, North Carolina in Nov. 2027 for the Ally Tip-Off.
This is the first year the two powerhouse programs won’t face off in the regular season since 2013-14. The Huskies are 11-5 all-time against the Gamecocks and beat them in dominant fashion this past April to claim their 12th national championship.
UConn and South Carolina have ruled the sport recently, combining to win eight of the last 12 national titles. Oddly enough, most contests between the schools aren’t particularly competitive in either direction with only two games in the series decided by single-digits.
The Huskies have played in the last eight Basketball Hall of Fame Showcases at Mohegan Sun (excluding the Covid season). This year, they’re set to take on Michigan and Utah in the event coming up on Nov. 21 and 23.
With South Carolina on the calendar, UConn has five other dates on its 2026-27 non-conference schedule: Away trips to Louisville, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Florida State; then the Champions Classic at Barclays Center (opponent TBA).
This is not the first pseudo home-and-home for the Huskies. They did the same with North Carolina by playing at Mohegan Sun Arena in 2023 and Greensboro Coliseum in 2024.
