The biggest question facing UConn women’s basketball for next season has been answered: Paige Bueckers is coming back — as is Aubrey Griffin. The Huskies still have to wait for Aaliyah Edwards and Nika Mühl to make their decisions, but Bueckers is the big one.

“This settles a bunch of stuff and now we can move on,” Geno Auriemma said on Friday night.

The outlook for UConn’s roster in 2024-25 is now a whole lot clearer. The Huskies will have two veterans: Bueckers and Griffin. Those two will have played key roles in parts of seven collegiate seasons — but beyond that, nobody else has been a contributor for two full campaigns.

“With Aubrey, Paige, it’s like BYU East out here,” Auriemma joked, referencing the fact that BYU’s teams generally have older players because they spend a few years away doing missions.
