This past season, Geno Auriemma was never sold on UConn being an unstoppable juggernaut the way some of his previous undefeated teams were. He said the regular season went “way better” than he expected. He didn’t think the current squad was better than the one that won a national championship in 2025. Auriemma even acknowledged that the Huskies had some underlying problems that couldn’t be fixed.
Once the Huskies made it to the regionals in Fort Worth, Auriemma’s biggest fears started to become a reality.
