Two more Huskies are heading to the World Cup in Berlin next month. This week, Gabby Williams was named to France’s roster while Dorka Juhász made Hungary’s squad. They’ll join Team USA’s Paige Bueckers, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart as former UConn players at the tournament.

Williams has become a star for France and nearly carried the country to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Les Bleus might be the biggest threat to the United States in Berlin.

Meanwhile, Juhász is set to appear in her first major competition with the Hungary senior national team. She’s only participated in the qualifiers for the Olympics, EuroBasket and World Cup to this point in her career.

Gandy Malou-Mamel didn’t play much during her freshman season at UConn, but the program remains incredibly high on her long-term potential.

“It may not happen this year, but it's gonna happen because she's got it all, especially inside,” Geno Auriemma said. “She's just such a great human being that you root for her every day.”

“All I know is that girl is going to impress everybody,” Jana El Alfy added. “I don’t think they’re ready for Gandy. That’s all I’m gonna say.”

While Malou-Mamel didn’t receive a redshirt this past season, she still has four years to play remaining under the new eligibility rules.
