Watch list season begins
The annual award watch lists are beginning to roll out. This week, the Basketball Hall of Fame is announcing its positional awards. On Monday, KK Arnold landed on the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list, which goes to the nation’s best point guard. Two days later, Blanca Quiñonez ended up on the Cheryl Miller Award watch list, given to the top small forward in the country.
UConn didn’t have anyone on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list (best shooting guard) while Sarah Strong will be on the Katrina McClain Award (top power forward) watch list on Thursday after winning the hardware last season. The Lisa Leslie Award (best center) watch list will be released on Friday.
Two Huskies earn All-WNBA honors
A pair of former UConn stars earned All-WNBA recognition this season. Breanna Stewart landed on the first team while Paige Bueckers made the second team.
This is Stewart’s seventh All-WNBA First Team selection, which is tied for third-most in league history. This past season, she averaged 20.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks.
Meanwhile, Bueckers earned a spot on the All-WNBA Second Team, becoming the first player since Tina Charles to start her career with back-to-back All-WNBA nods. In her sophomore campaign, Bueckers put up 20.9 points, 5.9 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks while finishing as the only player in the league to shoot at least 50 percent overall, 40 percent from three and 87 percent from the free-throw line. She also helped the Dallas Wings reach the playoffs for the first time since 2023.

UConn hosted two 2027 prospects on visits against Texas: Sydney Savoury and Kinga Josepovits.
Savoury (No. 9 player in the class) has long been a target of the Huskies. A 5-11 guard out of Michigan, UConn offered her back in May and are one of six finalists alongside North Carolina, Notre Dame, UCLA, USC and Texas.
Josepovits could be the Huskies’ latest European import. She’s a 6-5 center from Hungary who also visited Duke and Vanderbilt. Josepovits played with the Hungarian national team (alongside Dorka Juhász) at the 2026 FIBA World Cup in Berlin.
Elsewhere in the class of 2027, Haylen Ayers (No. 8) took her official visit to Vanderbilt this past weekend. The Huskies and Commodores are the two finalists. She’ll visit UConn next week.
